Hit and Run Found

A Special Investigations Unit Manager of a major property and casualty insurer praised XFIS as "amazing technology," when it was recently employed to assist in identifying the license plate in a hit and run incident in a parking garage, whereby the assailant fled the scene.

Routine surveillance video did not provide an accurate image of the license plate and another provider of investigative services was not able to extract the information. Adding further pressure to the case, the insured, concerned about his deductible, gained the attention of the insurance company President and CEO.

The Manager contacted Xpera. Using XFIS' capability to extract this type of detailed information from extreme angles, remove glare and lighten and darken images, the Xpera team was able to assist in identifying the 'hit and run' license plate and the truck that fled as it was exiting the garage.

Specifically, the process involved importing the evidence into the software, assessing suitability, and applying restoration/clarification algorithms to better evaluate the license plate of the vehicle involved in the motor vehicle accident.

Retailer Exonerated

A claims adjuster for a national retailer was struggling for a good visual of a store surveillance video to absolve his client from any wrongdoing. The case involved a customer slip and fall accident, and a claim of negligence against the retailer due to a wet floor.

Using the image enhancement capabilities of Xpera’s XFIS technology, the retailer was exonerated from any wrongdoing when the enhanced footage clearly showed that the customer did not slip on a wet floor, but in fact, twisted her ankle while walking. The plaintiff’s lawyer walked away from the claim once Xpera provided the results of the video enhancement.

Specifically, the process involved assembling the evidence and establishing the questions needed to support the answers, importing the evidence into the software, assessing suitability by examining specific variables, and applying multiple different algorithms in an effort to clarify and better assess the slip, trip, and or fall and or the plaintiffs body mechanics.
